When ALLAH SWT commanded him to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience, Prophet Ibrahim a.s. submitted to ALLAH SWT's will & prepared to do as commanded, though with a heavy heart. His obedience was rewarded by ALLAH SWT, who stopped Prophet Ibrahim a.s. before any harm could come to his son Ismail (Prophet Ismail a.s.) providing him with a sheep to sacrifice instead. Hari Raya Aidiladha or Eid al-Adha, commemorates that sacrifice. It is celebrated by Muslims around the world in honour of the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim a.s. to do as ALLAH SWT willed of him. In Malaysia, it is celebrated on the 11th to 13th day of Zulhijjah.
